Beach in Spain

I cannot tell you how nice it feels to be getting back to my blog. I truly have missed it. I’ve been gone for a little over 5 months now since my last post where I let you guys know that I decided to move to Barcelona from New York City. I won’t lie to you it’s been a really crazy and intense journey. Not knowing anyone in a foreign country without family and not speaking the native language is a serious culture shock but it was beyond exciting for me. I wanted to know that I can do it and I’m proud to say that I did and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I usually only post about beauty and fashion but I wanted to really share this experience with my loyal readers and explain why I haven’t been as active as before.

When I first got to Barcelona I had to start my TEFL (Teaching English as a First Language) course since I’m an English teacher here. It’s a bit difficult to find any other job considering I don’t speak the language. After the 4 week course I started teaching English and I have to say I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve been able to travel all around Barcelona teaching for companies and really getting to know the city. It’s been quite the experience!

The thing I get asked the most is, “Were you afraid of going somewhere were you knew no one and didn’t have any family around.” I always responded saying no. I knew that if it really didn’t work out I was lucky enough to be able to come back home. I had a safety net. My parents weren’t going to turn me away but in my mind that wasn’t an option. I knew I wanted to make it work and be able to build a life for myself in a new place with new people.

If you have ever wondered about moving abroad and still haven’t decided if you have the guts to do it, I say you do. And you need to go for it. It’s something that was always in the back of my mind and never really went away. It was by far the biggest and best decision I’ve made in my life. I really think if I can do it anyone can.
